Frocktober Day Twelve

"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again"

(Rebecca, Daphne du Maurier, 1938)

I'm calling this one my Mrs Danvers Dress, because (apart from the length) it reminds me of the dress worn by Mrs Danvers (Judith Anderson) in the 1940 Hitchcock film, Rebecca.

I'm not sure how old it is, but I suspect it's an 80's take on a frock from the late 30's early 40's...it has a belted waist, mid-calf length skirt, shoulder pads and the tailored look of frocks from that era anyway.

But while it might be Mrs Danvers in the front, there's not a trace of her in the back - look how beautiful it is!

I do hope someone will buy it - I'm only selling it because it's too big for me, and it deserves to be worn. You know the drill - send me a note if you're interested, payment to my Frocktober fund etc. etc.

Speaking of my Frocktober fund, if you'd like to sponsor me - like lovely Vanessa did yesterday - please hit the give now button HERE

It's about saving women's lives, as simple as that.

This is what happens when your photographer (and husband) says things like "work it baby!" and "oh yeah!"

  1. Such a gorgeous cut to that frock - proper stern clothing. ;-)

  2. Now I really like that dress, it does have a Mrs Danvers sort of vibe, very elegant. I don't think it would stretch around my curves though, sadly... You must be a size 8, Kylie, and I am a 12-14, bet the dress is about a 10. Oh well.
Love seeing you working it, baby! xxxx

  9. You look beautiful in this dress. Rebecca is one of my favourite Hitchcock films. I recently watched My Cousin Rachel (not a Hitchcock film, but book by the same author as Rebecca). Didn't have as much of an eery feel as Rebecca, but still left you guessing at the end. xx
