Continuing on from yesterday, here's the last of our Friday finds...

orange,purple and mustard...say no more!

One of those "things" for storing plastic shopping bags in. I bought it mainly for the lovely strip of bark cloth in the middle. Behind it you can see one of the real Lucy Violet's apron's. More about her soon.

We especially liked the font on these cannisters.

More orange. A pair of flanelette sheets. Already worn-in for us.

Sticking with orange, and it is the first day of Autumn here (although you wouldn't know it!)

This sweet deer print also came home with us

It's very faded but when I turned it over I knew why...

There is more, but "sometimes less is more" so I'll end with one more pic, not of something we bought but still treasure... 

 The rest of this Pub had been badly renovated in the 80's. Don't know why they kept the original sign...I'm glad they did though.

Speaking of tea towels, Patricia from www.modernistaustralia.com/ has let me know of a project they are currently working on about Melbourne designer John Rodriquez. He produced tea towels and wall hangings in the 40's-80's. If you have any of his tea towels in your linen cupboard I'm sure they would love to hear from you. I haven't come across any of his in my collection... YET!

I popped into a couple of op-shops this morning while I was was out and about and this is what I bought...

The colours in the stripey crochet blanket are much prettier and brighter in real life. Crochet is the "in" crafty thing at the moment so I find it slightly bemusing that all of the op-shops I go to have heaps of these (some I think, quite sweetly less perfect than others but all involving lots of work by their makers)  and they are always dirt cheap.  This one cost two dollars and it covers the top of our queen sized bed! Admittedly the Salvo's were having a half priced sale on linen, but come on...Anyway for me this is a good thing as I've tried to crochet and I suck at it!

Sometimes the labels on things you buy are more interesting than the thing itself...

Isn't this one great. I love the artist's easel and the font and I also love the phrase "pictures of distinction" It also tells me that the print of the little girl and kitten is called Innocence by an artist called Moter. I'm sure I've seen the same print but in blues instead of pinks have you?

I haven't been able to find any info on Moter, if you have any please let me know.

During my attempted research on Moter I came across two fantastic web sites on Big Eye Art. Prints I've never seen before. I know alot of you love Big Eye pics so here you are:

I also bought this for my daughter who likes Chinese Checkers. One dollar. No missing pieces. And in a neat little wooden box too.

And here's a close-up of the little shoe lasts. You can't really see them in the top pic. Purely decorative but too pretty to leave and they were only ninety nine cents!

Speaking of tea towels, my husband is in Melbourne at the moment,today he went to Chappel Street Bazaar and saw vintage linen tea towels for sale for sixty dollars!!! Wow! I may never have to work again!

I'm sure they decorated the walls of many girls bedrooms who grew up in the 70's like me. Forty years later they've become part of my life again. I found these in an op-shop, couldn't resist them, and brought them home to hang in my daughters bedroom. My collection grew which was fine until my daughter decided that "their big eyes freak me out!"

So now they're all mine again and here they are in all their big-eyed glory...

  These are all by British artist Dallas Simpson who I've read sold them for next to nothing-as long as she made enough money to pay for her gin she was happy!

 I love these two. They were painted by T. Maru. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any info about him/her. If you know anything please let me know. They look a bit Japanesey to me...

I found her in an op-shop still in original box.

And here's her bridesmaid!

I had a doll like this when I was little. She wore an aqua dress and sat on my dressing table. I was never allowed to play with her.  Pretty boring really. I wonder what happened to her? I still have most of my old dolls, but not that one...

This is the wallpaper in the t.v. room at my house. It has a lovely copper thread running through it which you can't see in the photos.
It's by Harlequin and called Virtue. It was very tricky to hang though...
