Just a quick one, but please have a look-see...

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about how much I love Wes Anderson's The Royal Tenenbaums. You can read it here if you want to...

For those of you who share my affection, here's a peak at his new flick, Moonrise Kingdom, due for release in the U.S. on the 25th of May (I can't find an Australian date (sniff) but I will definetely give you the heads-up when I do)

It looks wonderful, sweet and quirky. Aside from all the usual stuff people judge movies by (e.g. fabulous cast, lot's of Anderson regulars) it's set in 1965. So, for those of you crazy about the 60's, there's also alot to look at (and btw, 1965 is also the year I was born! Scary! Now you know how old I am! No wonder I need those specs eh!)

I think it's going to be worthy of its own love letter and I can't wait to see it.

p.s. that gorgeous voice you hear at the end of the clip (coming from that totally cool portable turntable on the beach) belongs to Francoise Hardy. She is singing Le Temps de L'Amour. Such a groovy song, want to hear it again?

I do...
it makes me feel like grabbing my vintage bikini and hitting the beach (the song, and the fact that it's 36 degrees celcius here today!) or I might just stay at home, blast the air-con and watch Gidget instead...

  4. My kind of movie..a definite must-see. And that song is amazing - I am listening to it as I type - great lyrics too. I love French music - well, a lot of it, not all. You should hear the French rap my son listens to. Or maybe not. AAAAGH!

  11. I adore his style! :) Can't wait to check out his new one. Funny enough, I just watched all of Gidget for the first time yesterday- LOVE that quaint retro movie. Have you seen the parody of it, "Psycho Beach Party"? It's one of my favorite movies of all time! So funny and pretty true to the original, too!

  15. That movie looks great. We love The Royal Tenenbaums, my ten year old dresses like one of them when she does her fitness regimes in the backyard. It is so funny to watch, she is all arms and legs. We even refer to her get-up as her Tenenbaum outfit. I can't wait to see the new one.

Do you know that my auntie had a lounge that looked similar to the one in your header when I was a kid except it was white vinyl with red knubbly fabric upholstery and it used to be so scratchy and sweaty to sit on, I don't think there was a shred of natural materials in it!

  17. Naughty girls who fib about their age aren't allowed to go to the pictures Kylie. I'm sure you must have been born in the 70s. Else you've sold your soul to Satan for a lifetime of good skin and glamour!
