Love Letters...
things I've found, been given and loved this week...
(a record for me, to share with you)
"If only I had lots of money, enough to furnish my bedroom just the way I'd like it! I wouldn't want a very big room as long as it was warm and cosy and filled with bright things"
June Book 1963

A bumper crop of toms
and counting!

This Stanley Chow print
Margot Tenenbaum
Love the movie,
Love the tee-shirt
Love that quote!

The Royal Tenenbaums...one of the few films loved equally by me, the girls and Anth.
(forward to 5.40 if you're in a hurry)
p.s. I wish I could pull off all that black eyeliner like Gwyneth does as Margot.

Old-school, oysters
Kilpatrick.
Uncool, but delicious!

A present from Em
beautifully wrapped,
and
inside
three gorgeous vintage tea towels
and
Em's Nan's famous pumpkin scone recipe. How sweet. I love little touches like this...it was even laminated. Awwww.
I wonder how they compare with Flo's? Remember this post?

I'm going to try to write a love letters post each week, but right now...well, I'm off to buy some pumpkin of course!
Have a lovely weekend x
So, so much here!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I love that room to the point of being sick.
Second, I'm now going to see how Gwyneth pulls off the eyeliner. I pine for the cat's eye liquid eyeliner look everyday but at 40 I'm not sure it works.
Third, I saw that LaCoste before I read the cute line. Love that shirt.
Fourth, I love your work. All of it.
Lovely post, it's made me almost want to dig out my old 'dolls in national costume collection' again seeing that bedroom.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a sweet parcel from Em. I need to ask though, what is a 'Sandgroper'? Is this one of your strange Ozzie animals, or is it the colloquial name for the lifeguards in red hats we all know and love from 'Home and Away'?
Have a lovely weekend xx
What a lot of lovely things. In the first photo of the bedroom I noticed some dolls from different countries - I used to have a collection of those! Brought back a few memories.
ReplyDeleteKylie - many thanks for all the lovely gifts you sent me.
Liz @ Shortbread & Ginger
I hope you get a delish batch of scones, I don't have the knack but my Mum does! That might possibly be the cutest bedroom ever, I want it! x
ReplyDeleteLove that bedroom. There is nothing better than pink chenille. Thanks for thinking of us with Bobuck the mountain possum but we do already have that one. melx
ReplyDeleteThat bedroom is so gorgeous so much colour and so fun. It's kind of sad but I have never seen The Royal Tenenbaums, ive heard so many good things about it as well. I will have to pull my finger out and see it this year.
ReplyDeleteThe bedroom is really cute. Love pumpkin scones, Master M and I make them from time to time and I am more than happy to let him eat the batter (especially since he dislikes veges). They never taste as good as Mums but she had a wood oven so maybe that's it!
ReplyDeleteLove the bedroom. I keep scrolling up to gaze at it again and again (you know what I'm like). Happy scone making. Xx
ReplyDeleteMy hubbie loves Oyster Kilpatrick ...old fashioned maybe but he says there is no better way to enjoy them....
ReplyDeleteMy pumpkin scone recipe comes from my mum's very old CWA cookbook...never fail. x
Fantastic idea, and fabulous love letters Kylie :) mmm, oysters Kilpatrick, I'm with you, I don't care at all if they're uncool ;) xx
ReplyDeleteooohhhh that bedroom is gorgeous and so girly i could quite happily just lie on that floor and listen to that record player ;-)) What a sweet parcel. Love letters such a sweet idea. dee xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely week with that sweet present from Em.
ReplyDeleteFab vintage photo, soo groovy.
You know I think uncool is the new cool. Way to go with vintage cooking. Yay!
P.s. I've never seen that film, must find it at video shop now.
Such a sweet bedroom!
ReplyDeleteAnd lovely parcel from the lovely Em - good luck with the scones.
The smell of home-grown tomatoes still on the vine is one of life's great pleasures - I know, I'm ridiculously easy to please! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Lovely post - the bedroom is gorgeous and what a sweet pressie from lovely Em. Sarah xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, all of it. That pink bedspread is pressing my buttons. One of my new year resolutions is to "give into pink'!!! re Pumpkin scones and the royal tennebums (or however you spell it) haven't tried either, but both VERY APPEALING now you mention them x
ReplyDeleteNothing beats home grown tomatoes, yum!
ReplyDeletebeautiful post-- i would do anything for a day off today (lazy sundays are best) to enjoy that recipe and great movie...the best part -- that last line always sticks to my heart.

i got your lovely package this week and i can't wait to start writing in that cute note book! hankyou for the lovely surprise :)x
ReplyDelete*Ahhh* That is such a lovely bedroom photo! I am trying to find myself one of the portable record players they have sitting on the chair in the pic. But it turns out they are hard to come by around here & when you do they are a little pricey.
ReplyDelete*MmM* Oysters look delicious!
Yay for the love letter post - wonderful idea. That bedroom is fabulous, problem being nothing would get done if i had it as I would want to stay in there all day. I also LOVE The Royal Tenenbaums! Big Love Scarlett x
ReplyDeletewhat a splendid idea, kylie! a love letter a week.
ReplyDeleteand i'm seriously going to have to check out those tenenbaums too... i wonder if i perhaps missed them, because i feared they would have been weid, even for me, ... ?

A bedroom design from 1963....timeless and wonderful! I think that wallpaper was in my dream last night...thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI *love* The Royal Tenenbaums. It is one of my all time fave films! And I have eyeliner envy too.
ReplyDeleteI am loving that sweet bedroom as well except for the cane chair. My sister and I had one like that in our playroom when we were kids and it got really old and ratty and one day when I was sitting in it it collapsed!
Em is so sweet, the recipe sounds delicious. Its a very slow for tomatoes here this year, a very bad season according to the Mr. Tam x
ReplyDeleteLovely to meet you Kylie....l love that bedroom from the June book so 60's. Your tommies are VERY impressive, mine are coming along... but not ready yet. What a gorgeous thoughtful gift from Em.
ReplyDeleteI Love that bedroom, so many lovely things ! Looks like you've had a wonderful week ! I need to check out the Tenenbaums for surexx
