It's all about the...

bird.

A-well-a, everybody's heard about the bird
Bird, bird, b-bird's the word
A-well-a, bird, bird, bird, the bird is the word
A-well-a, bird, bird, bird, well the bird is the word

I was the lucky winner of this gorgeous little birdy brooch in a bloggy give-away held recently by Liz Jones (of Betty Jo fame) on her newest blog Gleaners Inc.

It's quite confusing, because Liz writes three blogs and I keep on getting them mixed up. I think she's one of those annoying Superwoman types actually...because in addition to the bloggy stuff, Liz also designs and makes unique jewellery from vintage lino AND she is El Presidente (and chief bottle washer I suppose) of a lovely little shop called Gleaners Inc. It's full to the brim with all things cute and kitschy. Wow! (feeling a tad inadequate? I know I am...)

Here's a recent Gleaners window

no prizes for guessing why I fell in love with it...

You can find Gleaners Inc. at 2 Ballarat Street Brunswick in Victoria (oh the fun my husband and I had when we lived in Brunswick! years ago now...) but Liz is happy to post her treasures anywhere.

Now before I end, I really want to share these beautiful re-purposed Tupperware light shades with you. There's a vague connection between lino and Tupperware isn't there...often found in kitchens? pretty colours? Maybe not, they are lovely though and because I might forget to share if I don't post this now...introducing the

Tupp-A-Lamp!

What do you think? Yep or Yuk?

(brought to my attention by Rosalie Malham of Notions)

And just in case you want to get down to The Trashmen, and you know you want to...

Have fun x

p.s. thanks for giving me the bird Liz x
btw I used the word annoying in the nicest possible
     way...amazing would be more appropriate.

  3. Nicest way I've ever seen of giving someone the bird. ;)

Not too smitten with the Tuppalamp - but maybe in the right setting? Yes maybe in a retro-modern kitchen with lots of shiny bright stuff. To look at only though - wouldn't want it for myself.

  4. That bird has gone to a lovely home, lucky bird.
I had that song as my phone ringtone a couple of year back - drove everyone NUTS!
Where are all these superwomen getting their energy from? Please share if you ever find out!

Like the orange Tupperware light shade, but the others look a tad gimmicky to me, which should be fine, as I love a bit of kitsch fun. Maybe seems contrived when not a one-off, things like this should be unique, maybe.

  6. Snap! I won a Liz Jones pendant a few weeks ago too! And then I had to buy myself one of the cuisenaire rod pendants - gorgeous. She is a very clever woman. I like the tupperware!

  10. It's a yep from me re the tupperware lights. Genius. It's also a yep for the bird brooch and a yep yep yep for The Surfin Bird. The latter reminds me of the Cramps version. I've been listening to ye olde vinyl today (I'm supposed to be off sick) and now I'm off to dig out the LP with that on. xxxx

  11. I love your birdy win, and I like the tupperware lamps too.
I don't know how anyone manages to do more than one thing at a time - I think I am approaching the pre-senility years, it's all a bit of an effort to get anything organised at all! (Or maybe I'm just dead lazy...) xxxx

  12. I wish I had super powers...or a cape and slinky bloomers like Wonderwoman. But I guess I am super at juggling. Family, life, work, whoops dropped the housework......
I love sparrow in the nest. Was it customised for the shoot, or just there, perfectly vacant and ready.
And of course I LOVE the lamps. I think I blogged about them after going to my first proper Tupperware party xxxLiz

  13. Very cute birdie brooch.
OH YAY KOALA'S! (I love them they are so cute)

I am not too sure on the tupperlights (When I first seen them on Etsy I thought, well that is quite cool)... But I don't think they are really my thing.

Although if I ever changed my mind about them. They are very easy to make diy project.
