House Proud, Deux.

Welcome to the Hung Up On Retro/Lucy Violet Vintage, "Show Us a Retro/Vintage Corner of Your Home" linky - the second in a 'series' of retro link-ups hosted by Donna, and yours truly.

(who could forget the highs (ummm?) and nauseating lows (okay, mostly lows) of our It's A Retro Cook-Off!?)

Before I show you a few corners at mine, I want to say thank you (a really big one!) to all the lovely people who have agreed to share a corner of their place with us. There wouldn't be a linky without them (you!) and we really appreciate it.

Retro/vintage means different things to different people. One size, shape, style, etc doesn't fit all, that's what I love about interiors with a bit (or a lot) of retro/vintage going on in them. That's what makes them interesting. Retro/vintage interiors are never boring, they have character and personality. They're real, and you don't have to put them together with an Allen key!

I can't wait to see how you do retro (and vintage) at your house -here's how I do it at mine...

Same old, same old from me.

(we're about to rip out our bathroom and the photo opportunities round here are limited...not to mention a little mishap with the delete button on my camera, and no time to take new pics. ahem!)

Although I don't think I've shown you the Seven Little Australians (vases) before. Apart from the green Remued on the left and the pale blue Martin Boyd in the middle, they  belonged to Lucy Violet. My favourite is the streaky John Campbell on the right because it looks like the bush.

I know you love your handsome Germans etc (I do too), but Australian pottery is just as good looking as its European counterparts - I think we forget that sometimes - it tends to be overlooked in our 'wunderlust' for fat larva, which is a bit of a pity really.

Here's a link to Collectors Path Pottery in case you feel like shopping (real or window) for an Aussie of your own. Who knows, it might be the start of a new addiction?! There's a lot to love, that's for sure. Their reference files also have a great potted history of Australian potters. And postage within Australia is free!

Anyway, you've seen my house before, now it's time for some serious sticky-beaking!

p.s. if you're linking in, don't forget to add your link here and over at Donna's too (twice as many visitors to your place), ta x

Newsflash! Just in pics from Sue. Wanna see some serious retro eye candy??? Sue's gorgeous home delivers. Big time!

Got a touch of the green-eyed monster coming on? I have (and that's putting it mildly!)

And wait, there's MORE!
Here's some pics of Evangeline's place. It's seriously lovely too.
She is having trouble linking up, and I'd hate you to miss out on her retro corners. Please pop over here, and say hello. Evangeline's  blog is relatively new, and I know she'd love to meet you.

  2. As always, your photos are wonderful. I love your hippo, and those vases are absolutely stunning. It makes them all the more special that most of them were Lucy Violet's.

I have to go to sleep, but I may come by again later to see what else has popped up! By the way, I found you via Dana at Mid2Mod.

  25. Wow, Kylie, this is so awesome!!! I'm so looking forward to diving into all those blogs!! I just linked:-)
Your aussie pottery is amazing, Kylie, and I agree- just as beautiful and spectacular as the German pottery! Those names are all new to us here in Europe (well, to me, anyway), but I will definitely google! And HOW cute is that hippo?!? So exciting that you're about to do a bathroom remodel, I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing more!
Thanks for hosting this great happening, Kylie!!

  28. Loving the linky and pining severely for others wares. Oh how I wish I could click my fingers and it be a year from now and all our home improvements and decorating be done. At the moment it's chaos. But at least I have wee little vignettes.

  29. Oh My! I don't know where to look! It is perhaps a little tastier than the last retrolicious linky. The lamps, the vase-age, the stools. Lovely stuff!

  30. oh sorry I am late-no surprise really. I worked all day long yestreday at a fundraiser for cystic fibrosis. I was on my feet wrapping presents at the Mothers Day gift wrapping from 9-5 at the local mall. All I could think about was getting home to make a cuppa, put my feet up and blog hop all the retro/vintagey lovliness. Divine linky Miss Lucy Violet! The perfect finish to my day. Yep I'm a simple girl. Hope you had a lovely mums day!

  31. Looking forward to checking out all these linkies-top idea kylie. Your place just gets lovelier-more photos/corners plase, more, more, more!

  32. Oh so much loveliness, Kylie! Your home is always delightful and über stylish, and now I get to marvel at lots of other people's fabulous interiors too. And feel increasingly ashamed of mine... Really, I was right not to link up, I could not compete with the gorgeousness on display here, and there isn't a corner of my home that isn't covered in a layer of dust and cat hair! It's sadly true...
Great link up idea, well done to you and Donna for the inspiration! xxxxx

  33. Oh I love that dark wall so much Kylie and the vases are a beautiful collection. The green is my fave for sure.

  34. Hey Kylie, I'm back. Sorry I missed your note to me (yonks ago) I had forgotten that I had written the post. Italy was OK...not great. I wouldn't live there. As I get older I become more cynical. It would have been better if I would have been able to find some fabulous Italian pottery, but there was NADA! And please DO NOT get me started on their toilets!
This styling thang looks fun. I will try and get off my bum and do something. I am having motivational problems though and yesterday resorted to Oprah.com to sort my head out. However, she is obsessed with Maya Angelou (who I reckon is OK, I've read all the books...I get it) but really, the woman is a demigod in the Church of Oprah!
I realise that my big SLUMP came when Flick started working in WA. It is a year now, and I think that is enough time to act like grieving widow. I am officially out of mourning. I am going to get my act together!
I will peruse your blog for everything I missed out on.
    Cheers Nick

  36. lovely vases! love the seven little australians! I'm into home reno & design because I work for a social media that's all about houses/homes in AU http://www.housenet.com.au/. In fact we are about to release an online renovation tool. Have you tried something like this? Cheers!

  37. Lubberly!! I think my home would not qualify since it's more of a hills/jarrah floorboards/vintage lace and lotsa neutrals kinda place. Although I got a mean stash of Pyrex and some doozy floral vessels that scream retro ... perfect for my floral arrangement efforts/trials and errors... I have used your book for inspiration twice already!! perhaps I should share my retro floral style?

  42. you've wonderful vintage highlight spots, i just love 'em. they do make me feel cosy, and snug, reminding me of an auntie's late home. i think it is spectacular how we can hang onto old things, valueing them, cherishing them, showing them off.
