Nana chic...

how it should be.

Perfection. Without over thinking it.

I love this pretty but very simple bedroom. Chintzy curtains, chenille bedspread, vintage flower prints, fresh flowers, and the carpet. Oh how I love that gorgeous floral Axminster!
Such a charming unpretentious room...even the lumpy bed looks comfy.

Fancy an escape to the country? This little 50's weatherboard is located in Trentham, Victoria. A small town seventy minutes from Melbourne (and also Lucy Violet's birth-place) check out more pics here. You should see the old dairy that comes with the house! Here's a pic to tempt you

imagine the possibilities...I am.

(both pics from here)

  1. That carpet is gorgeous! It reminds me of my Nanna's room except she had a purple bedspread which is now on my bed. I would love to leave the city behind one day.

  2. Pink chenille is just the best. The whole room is like a giant musk stick, my gram had similar carpet too. melx

  3. My granny used to have a lightshade just like the one in the bedroom picture!

  4. Wow, it that room is a real cross between my city Nana's house and my country Nana's house (from memory). Makes me feel all sentimental. Sherry :)

  6. Oh, it's so pretty. I have such a grandma/nana/ma taste! I love the rug too!

I can't remember if I told you this already, but my grandma's middle name was violet as well. I love that name!

    Hope you are well!

  7. My nan and grandad had the same carpet in their room! I did try and rescue it when their house was sold but my attempts were scuppered. Scarlett x

  8. What huge potential there is with a brilliant place like that!

The bedroom furniture is divine, especially love the dressing table and mirror!

  10. God I love that carpet, and the pictures on the wall. The furniture scares me a bit tho, reminds me of my 'strict' nana I think!

  11. My mother describes rooms like this as 'the type of bedroom I want to be in when I'm poorly'. I know exactly what she means - fresh, homely and cosy. Not that you'd WANT be ill, of course!

  12. Instantly I was assailed with memories and even "smells" as soon as I saw the picture. I think I could even here a clock ticking in the quiet. The carpet is my all time favourite and I almost put a similar Axminster down when I re-carpeted but the copy was just not the same. I love your eye for the simple and sublime

  14. I can smell it and dearie it is not good! Though I love the carpet and the lampshade...I have been to a tad too many DP auctions of late to fully appreciate it. Saying that, let me loose in the wardrobes...I am sure they still contain the lady's trousseau and linen that was put away because it was 'too good' to use.
