A decision has been made...we are planning to tackle the renovations to our funny little shop/house with new vigour and gusto. Among other things, this means that I am going to have to think very seriously before I bring any more op-shopped (etc) treasures home.

Currently we have two sheds full to the brim (I'm not being poetic here...they really are) with all sorts of lovely/interesting/quirky/beautiful/too fabulous to leave on the side-of-the-road stuff. So until the house is finished I am going to try my hardest not to add to it.

And if I am being totally honest I am also s-l-o-w-l-y coming to the realisation that enough is enough...how much stuff does one family need? especially if it is not being used or loved...I mean honestly, what's the point of stock piling stuff just because...

I love op-shops and hunting for treasure so it is not going to be easy but I am going to try my best to resist temptation. Wish me luck.

On that note, here's my meagre contribution to this week's Flea Market Finds

at twenty five cents each these easily made the cut

My husband found these sweet ducky measuring cups, in an op-shop for two bucks...I've been wanting some for quite a while but they have always been too pricey in those fancy-shcmancy home-ware shops...

I take the blame for the purchase of this old Willow cake tin though. Apart from being a thing of beauty (it has a lovely faux wood lid) it's also useful. And useful is good.

And lastly, because every good (or not-so-good) cook needs an apron I bought these

  1. You've gotta have aprons such gorgeous finds! I'm in a similar boat to you, I live at home so I only have my bedroom to keep stuff in and I have taken over the spare bedroom.... It's so hard to stop it's the tresure hunters in us! Good luck with slowing down.

  2. Kylie you've hit upon an interesting point there - where is the line? I think at some point I'm also going to have to curtail the collecting. That or we'll be in danger of drowning in stuff, but it is very hard!!

Your ducky measuring cups are amazing!!!

  6. I love the mugs & measuring cups.
I buy things for myself and to sell. But sometimes I end up loving the stuff I am supposed to re-sell so much I never sell it. *rolls eyes* *LOL*

But I have started making steps to get back on track with the selling and hopefully in the near future I can start loading up a Etsy shop with vintage stuff. =)

  7. Oh Kylie, poor you! I love the measuring cups, so pretty! We were in a similar predicament recently as hubbys mum retired off the family farm-it was leased and hubby had to clear all his stuff out of two huge sheds. It's taken us a year or so to sift through it all, and we still have a garage full of pottery and an attic full of books. a one-in one-out policy worked for us!!!

  8. I have to say i would love to look in those sheds ;-)) Its hard sometimes when your a collector and you see a good deal especialy vintage as its not something you can just go and buy in a shop. Those ducks are so cute and so is the tin, dee x

  10. I've asked myself the same question. Though so hard to do (and I often fail at this) I need to buy on a need not want basis. But how can you resist gorgeous finds such as yours? I collect similar cups and they are hard to come buy. As are willow tins (always practical) and the adorable measuring cups.

  11. that's why you should open a shop...i have decluttered numerous times, rummage helps with this. it's sometimes nice to get rid of a bit to make room for some new finds. i'm opening a shop in a few years so i can justify my love for opping. it's the only answer. :) ps. thank you for your thank you card, it's gorgeous! xx

  12. I am exactly where you are on that. It's time to stop. But really, it's proving a little difficult. So weak-willed...

  13. I remember my nana having mugs just like those ones :)
There are times that I avoid the op shops for the same reason..but it is so hard when you find such great bargin finds.

  14. LOVE your goose spoons! We seem to have the exact same predicament at the moment, I have acquired WAY too much stuff just 'cos it's lovely, so have been purging, donating and selling what I can't wither use or display right now, no point in having piles of stuff festering away in cupboards!

  17. Wishing you the best of luck with the non-buying bit. We are trying to declutter to put the house on the market so currently im ebaying lots of goodies - having fun finding lovely things but being good with not holding onto the too long. I say that however i have a load of stuff i bought this weekend to take pics of and blog about! Scarlett x

  18. The ducks! LOVE! You do find some fab stuff Kylie. Good luck with the self imposed ban, I think of a few of us are in a similar position with the trying to cut down on clutter thing. I am trying hard not to bring in more stuff until I'm moved and know what my new house will be like. Also I've been very very good about not dragging the kids around charity shops on their Summer holidays, although I am off to a boot sale at the weekend as a reward!

  21. ha ha ha .... must stop must stop but I bought these :) hee hee.
Do you watch American Pickers? Some people don't stop collecting! Just turn it into your business!
I thought I'd stop buying paper ephemera and I just can't - it's all so infinitely fascinating. The bits that I see no use for I'm now going to turn into 'smash' books or journals. I've just bought a Bind-It-All to play with - so we'll see how they come out.
Some of us are just destined to be collectors I think.
